Countermeasure for Defects in Die Casting Product
Defect analysis and diagnosis is made possible without prototypes or trial and error through the use of casting flow simulation and CAE. Production preparation stage lead time can be shortened and costs contained.

Exterior defect is detected on part of the product during the production preparation stage. Casting flow analysis is performed to investigate the cause of the defect, and it is postulated to be caused by an air pocket. After changing the plan to avoid air pockets and running the simulation, countermeasures were performed based on the results and the defect was corrected. This resulted in stable production with zero defects.
An air pocket is being formed during the casting flow simulation in the part where the defect is occuring.

There is no significant difference between the results of the analysis and the casting product.
As can be seen, the casting flow is successfully reproduced in the simulation.
